What Can We Do?  Exhibition design for "Climate Change: The Threat to Life and a New Energy Future" at the American Museum of Natural History. This interactive information graphic presents a variety of actions people can take to lessen their impact on the environment.

CFO Confidence Survey  This interactive infographic, developed for GE Capital, Americas, shows the results of a survey of more than 500 CFOs, asking how confident they are in the present economic recovery. With Lisa Strausfeld and Adam Suharja.

Chess Pieces  A redesign of chess pieces. At any point in the game, each piece takes on the form of a map of all of its available moves. If it can't move anywhere, it becomes invisible. Here, an entire game is played out.

Curly Hair, Glasses, One Woman Only  I searched on stock photography websites for people with whom I share similar physical characteristics and merged them with photos I took of myself. The title comes from the search terms I used to find these photographs.

Defining the Terrortory: Exploring the Definitions of Terrorism  An investigation of the nature of self-definition. There is no universally accepted definition of the word terrorism. Even within the United States, each government agency uses a slightly different definition. The book employs camouflage patterns drawn from the U.S. military and from 'known terrorist groups' to create a visual metaphor for the contradictions that lie at the heart of this country’s foreign policy.

Environmental Performance Index  The EPI ranks 163 countries on their performance across 25 metrics including environmental health, air quality, water resource management, biodiversity and habitat, forestry, fisheries, agriculture, and climate change. The website was designed for the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy. With Dan Michaelson and Tamara Maletic.

Fostoria, OH  In the summer of 1986, the image of Jesus appeared on the side of a soybean oil tank in Fostoria, OH. I interviewed people who visited the site to see what they could recall about what they saw and experienced.

Home Appliance Energy Use  This interactive visualization, developed for GE Ecomagination, calculates the energy use of home appliances in terms that are easily understood. This piece was a winning entry in the Type Directors Club TDC 57 competition and will also be part of the Museum of Modern Art exhibition Talk to Me, which explores "the communication between people and objects," and opens July 24th, 2011. With Lisa Strausfeld, Adam Suharja, and Michael Deal.

I Heart 80s TV  A new opening credit sequence created from the beloved TV shows of my youth.

Invention for 900 Hands  The two books each present the full text of a New York Times article about the making of a Steinway grand piano. One version uses color to indicate different categories of information, the other uses typeface. Each book was overprinted four times, the overlapping typefaces or colors indicating the overlapping subject matter.

My Closet  An exploration of the personal origins of the clothes in my closet.

New Haven Open/Closed  Designed as signage for the Yale graphic design studio space. The sign shows when certain local businesses and attractions are open and closed, over the course of the day. When something is about to close, the image starts to fade, and when it closes, the image goes to black like a storefront sign turning off for the night.

One Chair 100 Ways  How many uses are there for an everyday object? I photographed myself using a chair in a different way each day for 100 days.

The Small World Problem  A PSA about the hazards of social networking.

Untranslatability  Translators have a set of six methods they use when a word or phrase is not directly translatable. I created an icon for each of these methods using a combination of mathematical symbols and proofreaders' marks. The icons are then applied to various types of translations.
